Ryks - Rossiter Wedding | October 2020

2020, the year we'll never forget...

Now for most couples the year they got married will be a day and year they'll never forget. For couples in 2020, that statement takes on a whole new meaning! Admittedly, I have not had many in-person events this year for obvious reasons, so getting to bring the Ryks-Rossiter wedding together in October was a blessing. The gorgeous couple actually tied the knot on their original wedding date in the bride's parents beautiful backyard. Unfortunately, the groom's family lives out of state, so having the wedding in October was a special moment for his family.

I am always honored to be part of a couple's wedding day, but being there during the year of cancelled weddings and reduced guest lists is even more heartwarming. Despite the smaller group of guests, the pavilion was filled with love and joy. The décor was on point and made the space that still had remnants of the early winter snow look like a romantic garden oasis.

The experiences of this year make me ponder what to expect for the wedding industry moving forward. Will couple's prefer this smaller, more intimate setting? Can we expect separate ceremonies and receptions with different guest lists? I think one thing many of us have learned this year is plans we make can be broken and everything will still turn out okay. As someone who likes to plan out almost every aspect of her life that has been a tough lesson but a valuable one. My heart breaks for all the couples that have had to cancel their weddings, but I cannot wait to see how this enhances their wedding visions for the next year ahead and future wedding plans.

I thank the new Mr. and Mrs. Rossiter for allowing me to be part of their big day and to experience this new normal of "COVID weddings". I continue to keep a positive outlook on what weddings and events will look like for the year ahead and if they're anything like this wedding, I think we'll be okay...
